This is the 500th Felted Flower

I thought for the 500th flower that I would make something elaborate, never done before, and totally amazing, but as it turns out it is a cute small flower just under 2 inches. I attached it to a clip for a hair ornament. The color is Cotton Candy from Ornamentea.com. They have some beautiful roving. I decided to keep this 500th flower as a record of my huge endeavor in needle felting. I sent it to Abby to put in her hair.

Maci's photo shoot

As you can see, very cute little Maci is growing fast and some of the hats just didn't fit. We were trying to get photos of the flowers I had made for her hats and head bands. Every time we tried to get a picture, she turned her head to see what was going on and we had a hard time getting pictures of the flowers.

Wet Felting

I have been playing around with wet felting and this teal poppy is what I came up with. It was a hit at Piper's which posed a problem. I didn't know where I purchased the wool roving and I really couldn't reproduce a flower that was like it.
On the right you will see some of my attempts (the yellow poppies, the orange poppies and the maroon one). I think that the creation of the teal poppy might just just have been beginner's luck.

Hats,Wraps, and BIG Flowers

I saw these hats on line at Piper's. I just had to laugh at the big flowers. I decided to try to make one (well not with the huge flowers) and this is what I came up with. Maci Jo is the model. (There is a pattern available now--8/26/09)
