My Felting Disaster

I love the art work of these two artists, Mary Englebreit and Joan Walsh Anglund. I had a pretty good start at felting a picture of them and I'm glad I took a picture of it then.  I did some more work on it later putting lighter undertones in Mary's hair and giving more dimension to their noses by felting tiny balls of roving on each side of their noses. It was starting to look pretty good. Then one day, a call came to hurry and take someone to the ER. I didn't think to shut my door. Trixie, our dog, was busy while we were away. Somehow she just loves wool roving. I rolled up the torn up picture, entombed it and made it into a felted pincushion. After working for days on it, doing a lot of compacting with the felting needle, I took it to a Relief Society exchange of favorite things and the receiver was delighted! Will I try it again? Maybe.

Pin Cushions in Vintage Tins

I have been using Vintage Jello tins for the base of my larger pincushions. Here are a few of them. Only the white Daisy and the Black-eyed Susan are still available.

I'm really interested in mixed media art

I am fascinated by mixed media art and needle felted art.  I've spent hours looking at it and collecting photos that I can't post because I can't get my computer to open my photos. I'm sure it's something that I did unknowingly. Here are works by: Gina Phillips, Jaana Mattson, and Barbara Schneider.

Etsy Shop Update

Making Connections    ( click here for Flickr felting photos)

I've spent most of a day working on my Etsy shop, adding a few more pincushions, tinkering around with words, pictures, prices.  I decided to see if I could get he Flickr link, but I wasn't sure where I could use it, so it's here on my blog which I haven't written on for a long time.  I did see that I had used the link back in August of 2015 when I started working on the pieces for the library show.
I changed the header today.  I put on a new one of felted pincushions that are on golf tees. I listed two of them, today.

Someone said to pick something to do and do it for 100 days. I thought I'd make felted flowers, one a day for 100 days, but that didn't last too many days. I think what they meant was a character building goal or something like that, maybe.

You'll see my Etsy shop's  new flowers on the left hand side of the blog.

I'm learning a lot through all of this!

A Doll Purse for a Little Person

I haven't sewn a doll purse from my pattern for a long time, but I did have one on hand that I just gave to my grand-daughter Annie for her 2nd birthday. It's the one on the left. I love the one on the right--her big bows and gumball dress.

August is Here

Needle Felted Sculptures (click here to see them)
Today is the first day of August! I've been working on FELTING for months. I'm going to have a show next year at the Salt Lake City Library--downtown-- in their children's room. It's exciting, but there is a lot to do.
